Business Intelligence Specialist - ETL
Reports to: Director - Information Systems & technology
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Business Intelligence Specialist - ETL is responsible for providing focus and skills on the improvement of the GMCR Enterprise Reporting needs through the use of information systems and technology. This position is focused on systems analysis, information consistency, and process integration across multiple business systems to provide increasing value with decreasing costs to the users of Enterprise Business Intelligence.
Our ideal candidate has a passion for Microsoft Business Intelligence and what it is capable of doing. From a strong knowledge and use of SQL Server 2005/2008 business intelligence tools – SQL Server data modeling, Integration Services, and Analysis Services to rock star level Performance Point experience. We need you to work with some exciting and high level projects. Candidates should have a working knowledge of cubes, ETL, and data warehouse lifecycle.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work hand in hand with the Enterprise Business Intelligence team to insure optimization of Enterprise Business Intelligence solutions by consolidating data from legacy systems, PeopleSoft SCM, PeopleSoft CRM, Siebel, and other external data sources for consolidation into PeopleSoft’s Enterprise Performance Management platform, Demantra, and Cognos.
- Develop and maintain documents for data models, ETL maps, maintenance procedures, and data cleansing requirements.
- Develop or enhance information systems solutions as needed.
- Perform support and maintenance, and upgrades on information Systems database tools and technology in support of Enterprise Business Intelligence
- Research, develop and/or enhance tools to monitor and maintain the health and reliability of the Enterprise Business Intelligence solutions.
- Analyze business data goals, rules, and processes across various information systems tools and technology
- Simplify, enhance, engineer or re-engineer the business processes that impact data integrity. Ensuring that the data in target systems is accurate; primarily an audit function. Includes data validation and reconciliation against source systems
- Testing business intelligence platform security (at the system, database, development toolset, and presentation layers)
- Designing, documenting and recording test plans, test scenarios, and test results for validating data models, ETL scripts, and creation of supporting structures such as cubes.
- Interacting with the business community to confirm that service-level expectations are being appropriately addressed.
This position is primarily Project focused with the successful candidate expected to perform 1 or more roles and should be comfortable:
- Build ETL scripts to support historical data conversions, database driven integrations, and reporting needs.
- Completing a project plan or schedule
- Completing a budget for a project
- Leading meetings
- Reporting status on a regular basis to the larger group
- Multi-tasking and/or multi-role playing such as being the project manager and implementer on small projects.
QUALIFICATIONS
A successful candidate will have the following background:
- 5-8 years demonstrated individual contributor experience in a mid-sized Consumer Package Goods (CPG) focused organization in the following technical and functional areas:
- 3-5 years mapping data through its lifecycle: source to staging to summary to cube creation using SSIS and Analysis Services.
- 4-8 years experience using TSQL, PL/SQL, MDX, and Visual Studio to create and manipulate data models/database objects.
- 6-8 years building ETL maps/scripts between PeopleSoft 9, Cognos 8, PeopleSoft’s Enterprise Performance Management, and Demantra.
- At least 5 years working directly with the Microsoft Toolset for Business Intelligence: Integration Services, Reporting Services, Analysis Services, and SQL Server.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or related computer field.
